Nanotechnology is the study and design of systems at the nanoscale - the scale of atoms.
Have I seen nanotechnology before?
Almost certainly yes! Nanotechnology is used in:
- Silicon chips
- Computer disk drives
- Light emitting diodes (LED lights)
- Dockers® StainDefender™ khaki pants
How can I learn about nanotechnology?
IPSE offers a wide variety of nanotechnology education opportunities. We offer workshops to educators and often give demonstrations at museums and science fairs. We also have a series of downloadable activities that you can try at home or in your classroom!
The Internships in Public Science Education program is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation. This program is a collaboration between the University of Wisconsin Materials Research Science and Engineering Center on Nanostructured Materials and Interfaces and the James Lovell Museum of Science, Economics & Technology in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
